Most families call in Year 11 after a bad mock. The work is easier and cheaper a year earlier, when a weak topic is still a topic rather than a grade.
A GCSE course runs two years and builds on itself. A gap left in Year 10 does not stay the same size: it quietly makes the next topic harder to learn as well.
Weak algebra in Year 10 becomes weak graphs, then weak mechanics. Fixing the first one is an hour. Fixing all three in Year 11 is a term.
Earlier on there is room to go back and teach properly. In the spring of Year 11 the only honest option left is choosing which topics to abandon.
Starting early usually means a single weekly lesson across the two years. Starting late often means two or three a week, in a panic, for less result.
Option choices get made here and are hard to undo. A few lessons can show whether a subject actually suits a student before they commit two years.
The year most content is taught and most gaps open. Weekly lessons track the school scheme of work and close each gap while it is still small.
Content gives way to technique: reading the question, managing the clock, structuring a long answer. Possible, but easier if the ground is already solid.
A tutor who has taught your child since Year 10 knows the habits behind the errors. That matters more in the spring of Year 11 than any revision resource.

Year 9, 10 or 11, plus the subject and board. No report is needed. Early on, there may not be anything alarming to show us.
The first lesson finds out what is actually solid. That is more reliable than a school grade, which averages good and bad topics together.
A single weekly lesson, tracking the school scheme of work. Enough to keep gaps from opening, without filling a teenager’s evenings.
top-tier online GCSE tuition that delivered amazing results for my daughter. the teachers are true experts who know how to motivate students effectively.
studying online from home in bahrain was super convenient. my tutor helped me fix my exam technique and taught me how to manage time properly during papers.
exceptional communication, flexible scheduling, and brilliant teaching methods. my son went from struggling with basics to achieving top grades.
Over two years the question changes. It stops being who is cheapest this month and becomes who will still know your child by the spring of Year 11.
| Feature | Home teacher Travels to you | GCSE Tutors Online, one-to-one | Tuition centre Group classes |
|---|---|---|---|

Not if the aim is right. Year 9 work is about option choices and basic fluency, not exam technique. A short run can save picking a subject that never suited.
Because fixing a topic takes an hour while it is still one topic. The same gap found in Year 11 has usually spread into three others that depend on it.
One hour a week, placed on an evening that suits, is less pressure than a Year 11 spent catching up. The point is to avoid the crisis, not bring it forward.
Yes. Send the scheme of work and the tutor teaches in the school order, which makes the lesson reinforce the classroom rather than confuse it.
That is the intention and it usually happens. Continuity is most of the value here, because a tutor who knows the recurring mistakes can stop them repeating.
Weekly notes name the topic and how your child handled it. In Year 10 the honest measure is topics secured, rather than a grade that means little yet.
A short pause is fine and often sensible. A few lessons in August, before Year 11 starts, are worth more than trying to teach through the whole holiday.
Maths and the sciences, because each topic leans on the one before. English improves steadily with marked writing, which also rewards time more than intensity.
Tell us the year group and the subject. A specialist name comes back within 24 hours, and one weekly hour is usually all that is needed this early.
No report or mock needed to get started in Year 9 or 10.
