GCSE Physics Tutors

Eight specialist Physics tutors, every one teaching both AQA and Pearson Edexcel, at both tiers. Lessons work from past papers and real mark scheme feedback.

Why GCSE Tutors

Six things a general science tutor will not give you.

Most students who struggle with Physics do not struggle with the ideas. They struggle with the arithmetic wrapped around them.

A Physics specialist only

Your tutor teaches Physics every week. They are not a biologist covering Physics because the timetable needed filling.

The maths taught alongside

We teach rearranging, standard form and unit conversion as Physics, not as something the Maths teacher will fix.

Both boards covered

All eight tutors teach the AQA course and all eight teach Edexcel, so the match is to your paper.

Tier decided on evidence

Foundation caps the grade at 5. We read the mock papers with you and say plainly which tier the marks support.

Practicals revised properly

The required practicals are examined on the written papers. Tutors drill the method, the variables and the sources of error.

Parents see the detail

Notes after each lesson and a monthly report, so you know which topics moved and which did not.

The qualification

GCSE Physics at a Glance

GCSE Physics is graded 9 to 1 and entered at one of two tiers. Foundation runs from grade 1 to 5. Higher runs from 4 up to 9.

Both AQA and Edexcel set two written papers. Each lasts 1 hour 45 minutes, carries 100 marks, and is worth half the grade.

There is no coursework. The required practicals are assessed inside those written papers, which is where many students lose easy marks.

Syllabus

Every Physics Topic We Cover

The eight topic areas on the AQA course. Edexcel orders them differently but examines the same physics, so lessons map across either way.

01
Energy
Stores and transfers, efficiency, power, specific heat capacity, national resources
02
Electricity
Circuits, resistance, series and parallel, mains supply, static charge
03
Particle model of matter
Density, internal energy, changes of state, pressure in gases
04
Atomic structure
Radioactivity, half-life, nuclear equations, contamination and irradiation
05
Forces
Resultants, moments, momentum, stopping distances, Hooke law and motion graphs
06
Waves and magnetism
Reflection, refraction, the electromagnetic spectrum, motors and transformers
Where the marks actually go
Roughly a third of the marks need a calculation. A student who knows the physics but cannot rearrange a formula still loses them.
Past papers

Practice From Real Physics Papers

Lessons work through genuine past papers and their mark schemes, not imitation questions written to look like them.

AQA

AQA GCSE Physics

Two papers of 1 hour 45 minutes. Paper 1 covers energy, electricity, particles and atomic structure. Paper 2 covers forces, waves and magnetism.

Pearson Edexcel

Edexcel GCSE Physics

The same length and mark total as AQA, with the topics grouped differently. Tutors teach to the paper your child will actually sit.

Mark schemes

Marked as an examiner would

Your tutor marks the work against the real mark scheme, so a missing unit or an unrounded answer shows up long before the exam.

The formula sheet, used properly

Some equations are given and some must be recalled. Students practise both until choosing the right one is automatic.

Exam technique

Decoding command words, structuring 6-mark answers, and timing, the marks students leave on the table.

Every lessonThe difference-maker
How a Physics lesson runs

An hour built around the marks your child is losing.

We start from the mark scheme, not the next chapter

Your tutor marks a recent paper first and finds where the marks went. We build the lesson from those questions, not from wherever the textbook happens to be.

Past papersCalculationsRequired practicalsBoth tiers

Worked live, not watched

Students work problems on a shared whiteboard while the tutor watches the working, so the tutor catches a wrong method as it happens.

Practice set every week

Each lesson ends with questions on the topic just covered, marked before the next one so nothing is assumed.

Exam technique

Where Physics Marks Are Really Lost

Most lost marks are not topics a student cannot do. They come from units left off, formulas rearranged wrongly, and six-mark answers that never explain.

Units and standard form

Converting millimetres to metres, or grams to kilograms, before substituting. The physics is right and the mark still goes.

Rearranging under pressure

Students who can rearrange calmly at home freeze in the exam. We drill it until it is muscle memory, not a puzzle.

Practical detail

Naming the control variable and the source of error earns marks. Vague answers about "being accurate" earn none.

Six-mark explanations

These need linked reasoning, not a list of facts. Students practise writing one cause leading to the next.

You See Every Physics Lesson

Physics progress is easy to misjudge from a single test score. These four reports show the direction of travel instead.

  • Notes after every lesson
  • Topic checklist, red to green
  • Monthly progress report
  • A recording of each lesson

What the Reviews Actually Say

physics equations and electricity concepts were a huge hurdle for my daughter. her online tutor simplified physics theories brilliantly.

Parent · Manama 🇧🇭

my physics tutor was amazing at breaking down electromagnetism and mechanics. i actually enjoyed studying for my physics paper for once!

Zayd Al-Ansari
Student · Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪

top-quality physics tuition. the tutor focused heavily on past paper application, which gave my son immense confidence in the exam hall.

Questions

GCSE Physics Questions

Should my child take Foundation or Higher?

Foundation caps the grade at 5. A child targeting 6 or above needs Higher. We review the mocks with you before entries close.

Which boards do your Physics tutors teach?

All eight teach the AQA course and all eight also teach Edexcel. Each profile lists the boards that tutor covers, subject by subject.

My child is fine in class but loses marks in exams.

That is usually calculation and command words, not knowledge. We mark a real paper first to find which of the two it is.

Is Physics harder than Combined Science?

It goes deeper and carries more content, including space and extra electricity. Students taking it usually want a science at the next level.

How often should lessons run?

One 60-minute lesson weekly suits most students. Two is common in the term before the exam, or after a weak mock.

Do you cover the required practicals?

Yes. They carry marks on both written papers, so tutors drill the method, the variables and the likely sources of error.
